OCEANIA MARU

* We have received reports that bulk carrier OCEANIA MARU experienced an engine failure whilst transiting the Suez Canal, Egypt on 18 June 2023.

* It is reported that the vessel was later taken under tow by tug to Great Bitter Lake but subsequently ran aground there during the course of the towage. A number of tugs are reported to have since been deployed to assist the vessel to refloat.

* It is possible that General Average/Salvage and associated Recovery issues may arise as a result of this casualty.

* We therefore recommend that you contact us if you are concerned with any cargo on board this vessel so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.
