VELA STAR

* We have received reports that bulk carrier VELA STAR (IMO: 9402938) ran aground whilst navigating the Rio de la Plata on 17 April 2024.

* It is reported that assistance to refloat the vessel was provided by a tug.

* The vessel is currently reported to be at anchor off La Plata, Argentina, presumably for inspection.

* It is possible that General Average / Salvage and associated Recovery issues may arise as a result of this casualty.

* We therefore recommend that you contact us if you are concerned with any cargo on board this vessel so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.
