AK DISCOVERY

* We have received reports that general cargo ship AK DISCOVERY (IMO:9218208), experienced a fire in its engine room whilst navigating the Canakkale strait passage at Akbas point, Turkey on 25 April 2024.

* It is reported the fire could not be the extinguished by the crew. Consequently, various tugs and coast guard vessels were deployed to assist the vessel with firefighting operations still being conducted.

* It is likely that General Average/Salvage and associated Recovery issues may arise as a result of this casualty.

* We therefore recommend that you contact us if you are concerned with any cargo on board this vessel so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.
